Two-factor authentication (2FA) in ShowingTime app

Note: the information in this article only applies to users accessing ShowingTime through their mobile app with account credentials they created. If you access ShowingTime through the SmartMLS Member Dashboard's SSO (www.smartmls.com) with your SmartMLS credentials, this article does not apply to you.

ShowingTime has added 2FA as an extra layer of security for users who have created ShowingTime account credentials for the mobile app:

Each time someone signs in using their ShowingTime credentials, an email is sent with a one-time code to that user's registered email address. Users will receive this verification email with every sign-in attempt until two-factor authentication (2FA) is configured on each device. The email looks like this:

Once they enter the one-time code, two-factor authentication will be completed and the emails will cease.

If the ShowingTime app is running in the background and the user brings it to the foreground, the system treats it as a new login attempt, similar to how it works on desktop. This triggers another two-factor authentication (2FA) challenge, which generates an email each time they open the app. Although the agent may not be directly logging in, the system recognizes it as an access attempt, and it sends another email with the code. This will cease once the user has set up 2FA from the device.

If there are any problems with the code (you don't receive the email, the code does not work, you get an error message, etc.), please contact ShowingTime's support team for assistance:

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my code doesn't arrive?

Tap or click Didn't get a code? Resend. Still stuck? Check your spam folder, then contact ShowingTime Support.

Can I skip this for now?

Yes. To skip for now, choose Do this later to defer.
You'll see how many days you have left each time you sign in.
After the 30-day window closes, setup is required and you'll be locked out until you complete it.

Will I be prompted every time I sign in?

No. Once you verify, ShowingTime remembers your device so you won't be prompted again on it. You'll only be asked to verify when you use a new device or browser, clear your
browser's cookies, browse privately, or switch between accounts.

Will this change how I sign in through my MLS?

No. If you access ShowingTime through the MLS Member Dashboard (www.smartmls.com) and don't use ShowingTime
credentials, you're not affected and won't be prompted.
